About Us

The noble cause of Commecs Educational Trust (CET) finds its root back in 1972 when (Late) Mr. Irfan Nadeem, Mr. Omar H. Karim, (Late) Mr. Arif Habib Teli and (Late) Mr. M. Arif Dossal laid the foundation of the Commecs Old Students’ Association (COSA), the alumni Association of Govt. College of Commerce and Economics, Karachi. CET was established in 1988, as a not-for-profit organization for the promotion of quality education. CET is certified by the Pakistan Centre for Philanthropy (PCP) in the areas of Financial Management, Legal and Regulatory Compliance, Policies, Compliance with Tax Laws, Program Delivery, Institutional Mechanism of Oversight and General Public Utility Compliance.

Commecs Educational Trust typically performs three major roles:

  1. It sets the strategic direction.
  2. It monitors the management.
  3. It provides support and advice.

CET executes its roles through committees including:

  1. Academic Advisory Committee for academic improvements.
  2. Governance and Nominations Committee to ensure compliance with integrity and
    ethical standards as well as to nominate members on different boards.
  3. Audit Committee to monitor financial compliance.
  4. Investment Committee to achieve investment objectives within an acceptable level of
    risk.
  5. Managing Committee to look after operations and strategic direction set by CET.
